The scoring of trophies will be the same as that of Boone and Crockett for all North American animals and Safari Club International for all others. When enough trophies are accumulated, a minimum score for entry will be presented. Not required, but highly recommended: a photograph taken at the time of the hunt showing the hunter with the trophy and classic firearm used. |

Since optics did exist during this classic time, a scope may be used. It must be an original or a reproduction of a turn-of-the-century scope; it must have external adjustments in the mounts, fixed power, and be a straight-tubed (not belled at either end) scope. |

The RooseveltBrowning Club defines a classic rifle or shotgun as one using a center fire breech-loaded rimmed metallic cartridge patented before 1910. A formal list of all of the eligible firearms and cartridges has not been compiled. There are expected exceptions that stay within the bounds of the intent of this organization. Some of these exceptions are listed below. CLASSIC RIFLES (not all inclusive) Þ Winchester Models 1873, 1876, 1883 Hotchkiss, 1885, 1886, 1887, 1892, 1894, 1895, and 1897. Also Models 53, 55, 64, 65 and 71. Þ Remington Rolling Block and Keene. Þ Sharps rifles. Þ Marlin/Ballard. Þ Marlin Models 1881, 1888, 1889, 1893, 1894, and 1895. Also Model 36 and 336. Þ Savage Models 1895 and 1899. Þ Springfield Trapdoor, 1898 Krag, and Model 1903. Þ Reproductions of the above. Þ Bolt rifles must be of original period production (pre 1907). CLASSIC CARTRIDGES A classic cartridge by definition is a rimmed case cartridge developed before 1907 or a rimmed, non-shouldered case in current manufacture. (Examples .30 WCF, .32-40, .33 WCF, .45-70 GOV’T, .405 WCF, .30-40 Krag, etc.) Exceptions (not all inclusive) to this definition are: Þ 30-06 fired in a Winchester Model 1895 or 1903 Springfield. Þ 7 X 57 in a Mauser 1893 through 1898 or any commercial production rifle prior to 1907. Þ 348 Winchester in Winchester Model 71. Þ 375 Big Bore in Winchester 94. Þ 30 and 35 Remington in Remington Model 8. Þ 300 Savage in Savage Model 99 or Model 20. These exceptions keep with the intent of this organization. |
